No one would dispute that our nation faces a unique time in history. With all that’s going on with the banking and housing industry and the consequential slow down and job losses, we are all in for some cost cutting. However, many homeowners are turning to a less excessive life style that includes maintenance of their existing homes and changing the look and feel of their environment. Many are turning to changing the look and feel of their current home to bring sparkle into their lives instead of moving. Many are evaluating their financial circumstances and are deciding that it makes economic sense to stay where they are and fix up their home. Some figure that in view of the fact that they are tired of the old place and are longing for something new, why not add some of the new features that they were planning for the new house. They also know that any enhancements that they do to their house now will pay off later. The economy will not stay in doldrums forever. Adding vibrant color and contrasting walls will emphasize the dramatic lines in a room. Notice how warm soft colors used around the bed and bold colors on adjacent walls give the room an enclave effect. JPlace Painting has over a decade of experience helping homeowners liven up their homes.
When deciding how much paint to buy, first measure the length and height of all of your walls. Multiply the length times the height to get the square footage of your walls. Add them together to get the total square footage that you will need to cover. At the store read the paint can to determine how many gallons you will need. A gallon usually covers around 300 square feet. Buy a little extra to make fixing the inevitable scrapes and nicks in the future easier. But, when doing your own house painting, don’t go for the cheapest paint. Painting is a lot of work. It’s a big investment in your time, so get a quality paint that will last. Higher quality paints have more pigment and less water. JPlace painting knows that they will cover more area per gallon and will hold up for better use.
Cabinet Refacing means putting a new face on your cabinets and since we are re-cycling the exisiting cabinets, this is the most economical way to upgrade and update your kitchen. We can do this without all of the problems that come with a major remodeling job. In just a few working days you can have that kitchen of your dreams. We start by removing all of the old and tired looking doors, drawer fronts & drawer boxes. Then we work on the surface of your cabinets. We carefully inspect the wood to determine exactly what repairs are needed. After repairing any problems, we cover the exposed cabinet frames with a whole new layer of veneer that is the same color of the doors you have chosen for your kitchen design style. After all framework and exterior of cabinets have been refaced, we install brand new components such as, doors, drawer boxes, drawer fronts, gliders for drawers, hinges and handles/knobs. By simply refacing your old kitchen cabinets, you can have a kitchen that looks like new for a lot less money and aggravation that comes with installing brand new kitchen cabinets.
Faux finishing is a painting technique used to create the illusion of texture on a wall. It’s developed into an art form. With the proper technique, a sponge, a rag or a feather can be all that is required to produce a fabulous effect, whether on walls, cupboards or furniture. It is something that a do-it-yourselfer can tackle and it requires no more preparation than any other new paint job, just a clean, primed surface ready for finishing.
Our faux finishes are customized to our client’s personality. They outlast many other wall treatments, including wall coverings. Faux finishes can appear to be subtle, bold or aged and of course washable and eco-friendly. They can be applied to almost any surface, such as, drywall, sheetrock, plastic, wood, ceramic, plastic, etc. Faux Finishes also add value to your home! JPlace Painting offers many different faux and decorative painting options! Email us for more information!
Indoor air is about three times more polluted than the air outdoors and according to the EPA, is considered one of the top 5 hazards to human health. Paints and finishes are among the leading causes. Paints and finishes release low level toxic emissions into the air for years after application. The source of these toxins is a variety of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which, until recently, were essential to the performance of the paint. New environmental regulations, and consumer demand, have led to the development of Low VOC and No VOC paints and finishes. These new paints are durable, cost-effective and less harmful to humans and the environment. J Place painting is proud to offer Low and No VOC painting options!
JPlace Painting is not only dedicated to providing the best services to customers that choose us for their commercial or residential painting needs, but also to assisting those that still prefer to perform such painting services themselves. One of the reasons that many Do-It-Yourself paint jobs end up looking dull or listless once they are dry is that the painter fails to use a primer before applying the first coat of paint. Primer is actually one of the most important parts of the process. It keeps stains or imperfections from the deeper layers of the wall from showing through your paint, helps your paint to spread evenly to the wall without significant blisters and increases the time between paint jobs. It also helps the layer of paint appear much more bright and vibrant. If you are painting with a lighter color over a darker color, one of the ways that you can make sure you hide the underlying color is by mixing a small amount of the paint with the primer before applying it. This is only possible if both your paint and primer are of the same type (latex or oil). You do not need much paint in the mix but you should be able to tell that the primer is shifting towards the paint color.
